Ingredients
- 6 pcs Yellow onions medium size
- 4 tbsp Olive oil
- 2 tbsp Butter optional
- 1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar optional

Instructions
- Chop finely or slice thinly as you prefer. The image shows the thinly sliced with Mandoline
- Coat the bottom of a thick-bottomed sauté pan with the olive oil (and butter if preferd). Heat on medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering
- Add the onions and stir to coat with oil, bring down to medium-low (30%) heat and let cook, stirring occasionally
- Let cook for 45-60 minutes, stirring every few minutes until the onions have a rich, golden color. You might have to add a little oil or water. At the end you might want to add balsamic vinegar to bring some additional flavor to the onions
- Store refrigerated for several days in an air-tight container

You can use onions prepared this way on top of a steak, to chicken, onion soup, pizza topping, hamburger topping... Caramelized onions add to almost any dish, this is an ingredient that will take your cooking up a notch or two.
